Psyche

The psyche is a system of perception, processing and storage of information that ensures a person’s interaction with themselves and the surrounding world.

It unites all the processes by which a person senses, feels, thinks, remembers, learns and acts.

The psyche constantly analyzes what is happening, compares new experiences with accumulated ones, predicts consequences and helps the body adapt to changing conditions.

The main functions of the psyche:

  • perception of the surrounding world;
  • information processing;
  • formation of emotions;
  • memory;
  • thinking;
  • imagination;
  • speech;
  • training;
  • adaptation;
  • personality formation.

The psyche constantly interacts with the body, subconscious, consciousness and social environment.

Its main task is to ensure effective interaction between a person and life.

The psyche answers the question:

"What's happening?"

Consciousness

Consciousness is a person’s ability to be aware of what is happening, to observe oneself, to understand one’s thoughts, feelings and actions, and to make conscious choices.

If the psyche continuously processes information, then consciousness determines,which part of this information to pay attention to And how to answer it.

Consciousness allows a person to go beyond automatic reactions and become the author of their own decisions.

The main functions of consciousness:

  • self-awareness;
  • attention management;
  • observation of thoughts and emotions;
  • distinguishing between facts and interpretations;
  • decision making;
  • goal setting;
  • introspection;
  • development of self-control;
  • the ability to change habitual patterns of behavior.

Consciousness answers the question:

"What do I choose?"

Interaction of the psyche and consciousness

The psyche and consciousness are not opposed to each other.

The psyche continuously collects and processes a huge flow of information.

Consciousness chooses what will be the subject of attention and what action will be performed.

You can imagine it like this:

  • Bodyfeels.
  • Subconsciousreacts automatically.
  • Psycheperceives, analyzes and suggests possible options.
  • Consciousnessobserves, evaluates and chooses.
  • Superconsciousnessopens up new ideas, meanings and directions.
  • Souldetermines internal values.
  • Spirithelps to bring the chosen path to life.

Thus, the psyche creates many possible reactions, and consciousness transforms one of them into a conscious action.

The psyche is responsible for processing experience.

Consciousness is responsible for freedom of choice.

It is precisely through the interaction of the psyche and consciousness that a person is able not only to adapt to the world, but also to consciously change himself and the surrounding reality.

Subconscious and superconscious

In the new psychology, the subconscious and superconscious are considered as two different levels of a person’s inner life.

Subconscious

The subconscious is the deepest intelligence of the body, which combines personal experience, heredity, innate programs and automatic processes of the body.

It is formed not only from the memories and experiences of the person himself, but also from what is transmitted through genetics, characteristics of the nervous system, temperament, the functioning of internal organs and the general biological organization of the body.

The subconscious includes:

  • instincts and reflexes;
  • hereditary predispositions;
  • physical memory;
  • emotional reactions;
  • habits and automatisms;
  • survival experience;
  • reactions of the nervous, endocrine and immune systems;
  • the influence of the state of internal organs on mood and behavior.

The subconscious can be calledmind body.

It continuously receives and processes a huge number of internal signals, most of which do not reach normal consciousness. The body monitors the state of its organs, energy levels, danger, stress, pain, hunger, fatigue, and environmental safety.

Therefore, the subconscious acts primarily through sensations, impulses, emotions, dreams, intuitive reactions and automatic behavior.

Its main task is to preserve life, maintain internal balance and use accumulated experience without the constant participation of consciousness.

Superconsciousness

The superconscious is the highest level of perception associated with the experience of the soul and the direction of the spirit.

If the subconscious is turned to the body, the past and heredity, then the superconscious is turned to the meaning, the future, development and possibilities that have not yet manifested in a person’s ordinary life.

The superconscious can manifest itself through:

  • deep intuition;
  • inspiration;
  • creative insights;
  • inner knowledge;
  • moral sense;
  • a sense of purpose;
  • premonitions;
  • unusual sensitivity;
  • perception of symbols and images;
  • experiencing a connection with the world, nature, or a higher order.

Within the framework of the new psychology, the superconscious can be understood asmind of soul and spirit.

It doesn't so much analyze what is already known as it helps a person see a new direction, feel the meaning and go beyond the usual patterns of thinking.

The supposedly supersensitive, or extrasensory, aspect of perception can also be attributed to the superconscious. However, such abilities should be considered an area for research, observation, and verification, rather than automatically accepting any unusual sensation as objective knowledge.

Difference

The subconscious stores and processes the body's experience.

The superconscious reveals the experience of the soul and the direction of the spirit.

The subconscious is associated primarily with the past: heredity, survival, habits and accumulated memory.

The superconscious is associated primarily with the future: development, creativity, purpose and new opportunities.

The subconscious speaks through sensations, fears, desires, tension and automatic reactions.

The superconscious speaks through inspiration, inner clarity, symbols, insights and a sense of right direction.

The role of consciousness

Consciousness is between the subconscious and the superconscious.

It receives signals from below - from the body, emotions, instincts and hereditary programs - and signals from above - from meaning, conscience, intuition, soul and spirit.

The task of consciousness is not to suppress one of these levels, but to distinguish them and make an informed decision.

A person becomes more whole when:

  • hears the body, but does not become a slave to instincts;
  • respects the experience of ancestors, but does not automatically repeat their mistakes;
  • accepts intuition, but tests it with reality;
  • feels the direction of the soul, but embodies it with responsible actions.
  • Thus, in the new psychology:
  • The subconscious is the accumulated wisdom and memory of the body.
  • Consciousness is a space of observation, discrimination and choice.

The superconscious is the highest level of knowledge, creativity and direction, connected with the soul and spirit.

Human harmony arises when the body, subconscious, consciousness and superconscious do not oppose each other, but act as a single system.

Interaction

  • Imagine a person as a tree.
  • Roots- subconscious.
  • They store all past experience and feed the system.
  • Trunk - consciousness.
  • It connects the past with the present and makes decisions.
  • Crown- superconsciousness.

She is drawn to new things, creates ideas and discovers unknown possibilities.

Full model

Then human psychology may look like this:

  • Body— it works.
  • Psyche— perceives and processes information.
  • Subconscious- stores experience and automates behavior.
  • Consciousness— realizes and chooses.
  • Superconsciousness— creates something new and helps to go beyond the usual.
  • Soul(in a philosophical sense) - sets deep values and a sense of authenticity.
  • Spirit(in a philosophical sense) - guides a person towards chosen ideals and helps to remain faithful to them.

The main idea of the new psychology

In this model, human development is not a struggle between the conscious and subconscious, but rather their coordinated work. Past experience supports the individual, consciousness makes conscious choices in the present, and creativity and the search for new solutions enable progress. At the same time, philosophical concepts of soul and spirit help describe questions of meaning and values, while observable processes of the psyche, memory, attention, and creativity remain the subject of scientific research.

Body

The body is the material basis of a person and the first level of conscious life.

It is not a passive shell. The body is a complex, self-regulating living system that continuously perceives the surrounding world, processes information, and maintains life.

In the new psychology, the body is seen as the bearer of its own biological wisdom.

It has:

  • ability to self-heal;
  • innate development programs;
  • adaptation mechanisms;
  • memory of past experiences;
  • a system of internal communication between organs, the nervous, immune and endocrine systems.

The body constantly collects information from both the external and internal environment.

It perceives:

  • temperature;
  • pressure;
  • chemical composition of blood;
  • hormone levels;
  • position in space;
  • condition of muscles and joints;
  • pain;
  • famine;
  • thirst;
  • fatigue;
  • safety or danger.

Most of these processes occur without the participation of consciousness.

Therefore, the body can be considered as an independent system of perception and regulation.

It is the body that creates the basis for the work of the subconscious mind.

When the body is depleted, overloaded, or chronically inflamed, it impacts emotions, thinking, behavior, and decision-making.

Taking care of your body is not only about physical health, but also the foundation of psychological well-being.

In the new psychology, the body is seen not as a “machine,” but as a living partner of consciousness.

Through breathing, movement, nutrition, sleep, touch and interaction with the environment, a person maintains a connection with his own nature.

The main task of the body is to preserve life, maintain internal balance and create conditions for personal development.

The body is the foundation of a person. Without a strong foundation, it is impossible to fully realize the potential of the subconscious, conscious, superconscious, soul, and spirit.
